Customize the Job Board and Statuses

ShopController allows you to customize the job statuses that appear on your Job Board, giving you the flexibility to adapt your workflow visualization to your specific needs. This article will guide you through the process.

Understanding Job Statuses

  • Job statuses represent different stages in your job workflow, such as "Inspection," "Repair in Progress," and "Completed."
  • The Job Board displays jobs categorized by their assigned status, providing a visual snapshot of your current workload.
  • Shopcontroller provides several default statuses, but you can also create custom statuses to perfectly match your unique workflow stages.

Accessing Status Settings

  1. Navigate to Admin Settings in the top right corner of your Shopcontroller dashboard.
  2. Click on the Status tab.

Managing Existing Statuses

  • You'll see a list of existing statuses along with their settings.
  • The Active checkbox determines whether a status is visible on the Job Board.
  • The Display on Board View checkbox controls whether a status appears on the board itself.
  • The Sort Order number defines the position of a status on the board, with lower numbers appearing first.
  • You can also edit the status name and color by clicking on the pencil icon next to it.

Creating New Statuses

  1. Click the Add button in the Status tab.
  2. Enter a name for your new status (e.g., "Diagnosed," "Test Drive").
  3. Choose a color for the status representation on the Job Board.
  4. Set the Active, Display on Board View, and Sort Order preferences as needed.

Advanced Options

  • Shopcontroller allows you to lock certain job actions (e.g., editing prices) once a job reaches a specific status.
  • You can define these restrictions within each status's individual settings.

Customizing Your Workflow

  • By creating and managing your job statuses, you can tailor the Job Board to reflect your specific workflow stages.
  • Use clear and concise status names that are easily understandable by your team.
  • Organize the statuses in a logical order using the Sort Order function.
  • Leverage the color coding to visually differentiate between job stages.

Remember:

  • Changes to job statuses may impact existing jobs assigned to those statuses.
  • Consider how these changes will affect your workflow before making any adjustments.
