# Creating and Saving Service Templates
## Service templates are a powerful feature that streamlines your job creation process. By saving frequently used services as templates, you can add them to new jobs with just a few clicks.
Let’s start by saving a service as a template:
- **Choose a Job:** Begin by selecting a job you’ve already created or are in the process of creating.
- **Save As Template:** Within the job, you'll find the option to ‘Save As Template’. Click this to transform the current service into a reusable template.
- **Create or Update:** If it’s a new template, hit ‘Create’. If it's an existing one, you can choose to update it or create a new version. For a new template, give it a descriptive name, like ‘Brake Service Premium Alternate’.
#### Finding Your Template
Locate your newly created template with ease:
- **Search Function:** Use the search bar to find your template. For example, searching ‘brake service’ should bring up the template you just created.
#### Using the Service Template Manager
For a broader view and management of your templates, use the Service Template Manager:
- **Accessing Service Templates:** Click on the gear icon for settings and select ‘Service Templates’ to see all saved templates.
- **Editing Templates:** Choose a template to edit. As an example, select ‘Water Pump Replaced’ to view and modify its details.
#### Important Options in Template Management
Here are some key features to understand when managing templates:
- **Add to All Jobs:** Select this option if you want the service to be included in every new job created, like routine inspections or car washes.
- **Is a Recommended Template:** Check this if you want the template to appear in the list of recommended services for new jobs.
#### Creating a New Service Template
When building a new service from scratch:
- **Create New:** Click to create a new template and enter the service details as you would for any job.
- **Service Category and Type:** These are optional but useful for reporting and organization. Add new categories or types with the plus (+) sign if needed.
#### Adding Parts and Labor to Your Template
Make sure your template includes all necessary components:
- **Add Parts and Labor:** Input all the parts and labor tasks required for the service.
- **Labor Rate Options:** You can set a specific labor rate for the template or leave it blank to apply the customer’s default rate.
#### Tips for Using Service Templates
Here are some final tips to ensure you make the most of the service templates:
- **Tags for Searchability:** Use tags to make your templates easy to find.
- **Labor Rate Overrides:** Remember that setting a labor rate in the template will override customer-specific rates unless left blank.
- **Save Regularly:** Save your templates regularly to avoid losing any changes.
